Titanic Kate Winslet with James Cameron in Avatar 2 photo shoot

Hollywood actress Kate Winslet recently met up with James Cameron, who directed the 1997 film Titanic, while attending a photo call for the new sci-fi Avatar: The Way Of Water. The actress returned to collaborate with the director for the new film, 25 years after playing the protagonist Rose in Titanic.

However, director James admitted he was a bit surprised to be working with the star again, revealing that she was “traumatised” after filming the disaster romance flick. Taking to the red carpet for the photo shoot, Kate wrapped both hands around James’s arm, as she took her hand in his. The actress looked gorgeous in a pair of wet-look leggings and a white shirt, teamed with an undone tie and a black blazer on top.

Meanwhile, James admitted he was surprised the actress had returned to an aquatic movie, according to a recent report in the Daily Star. “Kate came off the Titanic a bit traumatized,” he reportedly said. During the filming of the film, Kate fell ill with pneumonia after having to perform in freezing water and turning down the offer of a wetsuit, unlike the rest of the cast.

That didn’t seem to put her off too much, though, as the star plays Ronal’s character in the new Avatar, one of the underwater beings closely related to the Na’vi. And even she’s broken records while filming, with producer Jon Landau saying: ‘Kate broke a cast freediving record. It was six 50-something minutes, but for Kate, we agreed to call it seven. She was phenomenal.

Apparently, Kate was particularly thrilled to beat out Tom Cruise, who is famous for performing his own stunts and pulled off a six-minute free dive while making Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation in 2015. The entire cast went through scuba training to prepare for the film that is set a decade after the events of the first film.

The film’s synopsis reads, “Jake Sully and Ney’tiri have started a family and are doing everything they can to stay together. However, they must leave their home and explore the regions of Pandora. When an ancient threat resurfaces, Jake must wage a difficult war against humans.Avatar 2 debuts on December 16, with sequels on December 20, 2024, December 18, 2026, and December 22, 2028.
