Netflix confirms Heartbreak High season 2

Heartbreak High is finally getting a sequel! Following the huge success of Heartbreak High, Netflix renewed the comedy series for a second season. The streaming platform officially renewed the Australian teen drama on Wednesday. Heartbreak High Season 1 debuted on September 14 and reached 42.2 million hours of viewing in just three weeks.

While its popularity in Australia was expected, the creators of Shows were apparently surprised when it reached the top ten in more than 40 countries around the world. The teen comedy series is Netflix’s first major locally produced drama series since the start of the Covid pandemic. Netflix’s hit series Heartbreak High is the reboot of the popular 1990s TV series of the same name.

For the inexperienced, the original Heartbreak High was set at the fictional Hartley High, with plots dealing with racism, human rights, and other real-life issues. Meanwhile, Netflix’s eight-episode reboot gives the show a 21st-century makeover. However, the details of Heartbreak High season 2 have been kept under wraps.

Heartbreak High is produced by Fremantle Australia and NewBe and created by Hannah Carroll Chapman. The reboot stars Asher Yasbincek, Gemma Chua-Tran, Josh Heuston, James Majoos, Chloe Hayden, Ayesha Madon, Sherry-Lee Watson, Will McDonald, Bryn Chapman-Parish, Brodie Townsend, Thomas Weatherall, and Chika Ikogwe.

It is a reboot of the 1994 series that was first screened on Network Ten. Netflix’s Heartbreak High series reboot follows the students and teachers of Hartley High as they navigate racial tensions in Australia, high school romances, and all kinds of teen angst. The show premiered on September 14, 2022. Production on Heartbreak High Season 2 will now resume in Sydney.
