Highlights

  • Chad Gable has taken his skills to another level, going full heel to prove himself as a top WWE superstar.
  • The Creed Brothers may soon become allies with Gable, reviving the legacy of Team Angle in a new era of wrestling.
  • WWE should learn from past mistakes and ensure that Gable and The Creeds have a lasting partnership for maximum success in the future.

After months of rising up the ranks as a babyface in his pursuit of the Intercontinental Championship, Chad Gable finally snapped after one too many failures, taking out his frustrations on Sami Zayn by attacking him in front of his family and turning heel. Although Gable still has the Alpha Academy members in Otis, Akira Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri by his side, he may very well garner some new allies. If reports are to be believed, then Chad Gable could bring about a modern day version of a once loved Ruthless Aggression Era tag team which never reached its full potential.

Chad Gable Has Been Compared To Kurt Angle

Chad Gable & Kurt Angle Are From Similar Amateur Wrestling Backgrounds

  • The former American Alpha were compared to the World’s Greatest Tag Team
  • Chad Gable is the closest thing to a modern day Kurt Angle
  • Chad Gable isn’t at Kurt Angle’s level yet, but a heel turn could bring him to the top

Ever since he stepped foot in a WWE ring, showcasing great mat skills and a style derived from amateur wrestling, Chad Gable has received comparisons to Kurt Angle. Both men are former Olympic medalists with backgrounds in amateur wrestling, and are both smaller than the typical WWE superstar. Over the years, Gable has shown a world class in-ring ability, and on occasion has been given the chance to show the world his brilliant charisma, playing both heel and babyface effectively. Fans have pushed for him to receive the same treatment and presentation as Angle, but thus far it has failed to truly happen in a prominent way.

Now Is Not The Time For A Liv Morgan Women’s World Championship Reign

Some WWE fans were upset that Becky Lynch won the Women’s World Championship, but giving Liv Morgan a run with the title needs to wait.

Gable’s heel turn has seen him develop a more serious side, putting down his allies in the Alpha Academy and focusing solely on winning gold. Although Gable had a lot of popularity as a babyface, it may very well be a heel turn which takes him to the next level in WWE. This trajectory happened with Kurt Angle, though admittedly it came much earlier into his career. As a heel, Angle developed top mic skills and showcased a range in performance – something Gable can hopefully emulate now that he has turned.

The Creed Brothers Are Rumored To Join Chad Gable

Chad Gable With The Creed Brothers Could Be Their Own “Team Angle”

  • The Creed Brothers have a similar style to Chad Gable
  • The Creed Brothers may replace Alpha Academy at Chad Gable’s allies
  • The Creed Brothers should be booked similarly to the World’s Greatest Tag Team

According to a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the expectation going forwards is that at some point, Julius and Brutus Creed of The Creed Brothers tag team will join forces with Chad Gable. Ever since their main roster call-up, The Creeds have impressed in matches but have yet to really enter any form of storyline and gain consistent TV time. For new blood on the main roster, they need something to really kick-start their careers, and this could be it.

How Triple H Revitalized WWE’s Tag Team Division

Vince McMahon didn’t appreciate tag teams, but under Triple H’s creative vision, they’ve become stars again in WWE.

They have a similar style to Gable, and would go wonderfully hand in hand with him. This sort of unit with these types of wrestlers will very much feel like the second coming of Team Angle – Kurt Angle and the World’s Greatest Tag Team, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin. In the original iteration, Angle was the mouthpiece, Benjamin and Haas did his dirty work, whilst also climbing the ranks in the tag team division, with the group trying to dominate several parts of WWE. When looking at Gable and The Creeds, this formula should be followed, with Gable gunning for the Intercontinental Title and The Creeds going after the WWE Tag Team Championships.

Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas Never Reached Their Full Potential In WWE

The World’s Greatest Tag Team Didn’t Last Long Enough

  • The Creed Brothers need to dominate the tag team division
  • WWE should learn from their own mistakes with Team Angle
  • Chad Gable with the Creed Brothers needs to be a long term partnership

When looking at the history of Team Angle, it is safe to say that WWE did not make the most of the unit. Despite fans looking back fondly on the group, their tenure together lasted a little over six months before breaking up and going their separate ways. It wasn’t too long later that Benjamin and Haas broke up as a pairing, only spending a brief period in the WWE tag team division. WWE really missed here, as all three would have been better off together. When looking at Gable and The Creeds, they have a chance in making this faction an improved version of this beloved unit of the past.

Why Kurt Angle Retired From Pro Wrestling, Explained

Kurt Angle has been open about his struggles since he retired from professional wrestling in 2019.

With a longer tenure, more feuds, and more titles, Gable and The Creeds can become a memorable unit that may overshadow Team Angle, rather than being a parody of it. It wouldn’t bring any amount of shame for WWE to present this act in a similar way, just as long as they improve on it and learn from previous mistakes. WWE is in a period where factions are thriving and are having feuds with one another, so throwing this group in the mix too would only bring about good things in the current WWE landscape. It feels inevitable that at some point Gable will be Intercontinental Champion, and having The Creed Brothers by his side as tag champions would make them a force to be reckoned with.
