WWE’s success of charlotte style It may already be second to none when you look at the female legends of all time to compete. Charlotte had a great season in NXT and moved up to the main roster with much anticipation. Established records with title reigns and overall main event appearances made Flair a true superstar.
Any fighter who has featured prominently for that long is sure to have some forgotten moments that get stranger as time goes on. Charlotte has admitted that she loves the big pressure stage and must deliver moments. However, she will examine the less celebrated moments to delve into her WWE career.
10/10 Ric Flair chooses Lacey Evans over her
WWE used Ric Flair in stories with Charlotte Flair more times than necessary over the years. It made sense for the start of Charlotte’s main roster run to get fans involved in her by starting the women’s evolution movement.
Ric returned to WWE television in 2021 during Charlotte’s feud with Lacey Evans. The angle featured Lacey using Ric’s weaknesses against him with a flirtatious relationship. Ric choosing Evans over Charlotte was a weird moment that ended up being scrapped due to Lacey getting pregnant in real life.
9/10 DQ beats Nikki Bella to ensure Nikki broke AJ Lee’s record
One of Charlotte Flair’s first big storylines in WWE centered around going after Nikki Bella to win the Divas Championship. WWE set up a big match for Raw between the two with Nikki just days away from breaking AJ Lee’s record for the longest reign with that title.
Nikki’s cheap DQ ending cheating to win was done just for her to break the record. Charlotte won the title days later at the following pay-per-view, but it felt like such a strange story that she lost the most shocking match over a pointless record that was misused here.
8/10 Uncomfortable contract signing with Ronda Rousey and others
The 2022 show between Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey kicked off with Naomi and Sonya Deville also involved. WWE arranged a tag match between the two sides as a small introduction to the larger feud planned for WrestleMania38.
The contract segment turned out to be quite awkward with the four ladies trying to play their characters. Things got more awkward when Rousey slammed Charlotte’s face into the table. Flair was in shock before being pushed out of the ring without any offense.
7/10 dana brooke standing up to her
A forgotten aspect of Charlotte Flair’s character was that Dana Brooke became her enforcer. When WWE called up Brooke, she saw her struggling to find the right role for her until Charlotte needed someone to help her gain an unfair heel advantage in matches.
This ended up being Dana’s most successful character in WWE, but it ended with a face turn. Brooke facing Flair did not get the desired response as the fans were used to cheering for both. Charlotte winning her only game before going their separate ways in the draft made it even more confusing.
6/10 Randomly becoming Vince McMahon’s favorite wrestler as a Heel Move
Many fans complained about the construction of the historic WrestleMania 35 Match between Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey. The feud between Becky and Ronda was very heated, but the addition of Charlotte to make her a triple threat was polarizing.
Vince McMahon randomly added Flair to the main event and declared her his favorite out of nowhere. Charlotte had just turned heel and was cast in the boss’s favorite star role without having much context to back it up. WWE did this to find a quick way to add Flair to the match and keep the fans rallying behind Lynch’s rebellious character.
5/10 Asuka celebrating her for ending the streak after the match
the WrestleMania 34 The match between Charlotte Flair and Asuka was one of the best performances of Charlotte’s career. Not everyone loved the idea of it ending Asuka’s undefeated streak, but Flair clearly stepped up to look like a superstar with a big start.
The post-match angle was the weirdest part of the actual match. Asuka grabbed a microphone and seemed happy to lose as she smiled to say that Charlotte “was ready for Asuka” before hugging. WWE trying to make Flair look even more respected after the win felt pointless as the match spoke.
4/10 Carmella charges at MITB days after Charlotte beat Asuka
Another negative aspect of Charlotte Flair ending Asuka’s undefeated streak was that days later she lost the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Losing Asuka would have made more sense for Charlotte to go on to have an epic title reign.
However, WWE chose to have Carmella beat Flair cashing in her Money in the Bank title shot after the IIconics attacked Charlotte. Carmella had the biggest moment of her career, but Flair, Asuka, and the IIconics felt like strangers to her roles right now.
3/10 The cake fight with Toni Storm
Toni Storm’s current AEW run has positioned her as their top female star, but it’s easy to forget that she was in WWE less than a year ago. Charlotte Flair’s feud with Storm saw them get the worst creative possible for what should have been a great show.
Flair hitting Storm in the face with a pie made her look ridiculous from the start, working with arguably the biggest female star. Even Toni’s revenge by hitting Charlotte with a cake didn’t help, as they both looked like idiots. The general unhappiness in WWE caused Storm to request his release and leave the company for good.
2/10 Association of strange teams with Rusev
WWE attempted to merge the two feuds into a mixed match during a rarely remembered episode of Raw. Rusev and Roman Reigns’ feud spilled over into a promotional segment featuring Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks.
The idea of the mixed tag team match was to create interest as a couple of big names were doing something new. Charlotte teaming with Rusev didn’t work out as well as Roman and Sasha as Lana could easily have been Rusev’s partner. The fact that WWE had Rusev’s team with Charlotte was strange and made Lana look bad.
1/10 montreal final screw vs natalya
WWE has a terrible history of going back to the Montreal Screwjob ending as part of a storyline. Charlotte Flair and Natalya witnessed this when WWE felt it made sense. The use of a late match submission saw Flair family friend Charles Robinson call the bell for Charlotte.
Both Ric Flair and Bret Hart, who were ringside for their respective loved ones, jumped on board, but it was still a cheap and lazy finish. Natalya and Bret’s post-match brawl putting snipers on the Flairs worked better than the terrible ending that fans thankfully forgot about.
