Emma Watson calls Tom Felton her ‘soulmate’

Emma Watson showers Tom Felton with love in her new memoir, Beyond the Wand. In the new book, Watson praises his former Harry Potter co-star Felton and her enduring friendship, mentioning how she “always struggles to explain to people the nature of our connection and relationship.”

Watson shared: “For over 20 years, we’ve loved each other in a special way, and I’ve lost count of the times people have said to me, ‘You must have kissed drunk, just once!’ You must have kissed! ‘There must be something!’” Meanwhile, the actress revealed that what they have “goes much deeper.”

She added: “We are soulmates, and we have always supported each other. I know we always will. It makes me excited to think about it.” Watson explains in Felton’s memoir: “Friendships are the linchpin of human existence, and I am so grateful that at crucial moments in my life, Tom has been there to reassure and understand me.” The actress added that the friendship she and Felton share has gotten her through some of the most challenging and soul-searching moments of her life.

Emma Watson played Hermione Granger opposite Tom Felton as her on-screen enemy Draco Malfoy for almost 10 years, in eight Potter films. However, Watson revealed in 2011 that she had a “huge crush” on Felton while filming the first two films, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).

Emma shared: “He was my first crush. He totally knows. We’ve alredy talk about that. We still laugh about it. We’re really good friends now, and that’s great.” Meanwhile, during HBO Max’s Harry Potter 20th Meeting special, which premiered last January, Watson admitted that he used to look up Felton’s name on the call sheet every day during filming. “He used to come every day and look for his number on the call sheet, it was number 7, and if his name was on the call sheet, it was a very exciting day,” he said.
