Angelina Jolie’s heartfelt email to Brad Pitt resurfaces online

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s legal troubles have continued and an email the actress wrote to her ex-husband in January 2021 has resurfaced online. The email begins with Jolie saying she is “putting this in writing so as not to get emotional,” before detailing her decision to sell Chateau Miraval Winery, which Pitt co-owns.

Referring to her youngest children, Knox and Vivienne, Jolie wrote, “It’s the place we brought the twins home to and where we were married over a plaque in memory of my mother.” The actress added: “A place that promised what it could be and where I thought I would grow old. Even now it is impossible to write this without crying. I will treasure my memories of what was a decade ago.”

Jolie then explained referring to Pitt’s struggle with alcohol abuse: “But it’s also the place that marks the beginning of the end for our family, and a business that is centered around alcohol.” She continues: “I was hoping that somehow it could become something that would hold us together and find light and peace. Now I see how you really wanted me out and you are most likely pleased to receive this email.”

Jolie went on to write that she has seen “a lot of inconsiderate behavior, money spent in ways that I would not have approved of, and decisions made that I was not consulted about” in the last four years, saying that she “has been hurt by decisions that have been made who show no interest in sharing the business or fundamentally changing it into something that would be healthier for our children.”

Jolie then brought up the 2016 plane incident in which she previously claimed Pitt “went for his own son” and “strangled one of the boys and punched another in the face.” Jolie also alleged that Pitt “poured beer” on her and “poured beer and red wine on the kids.” The same month the alleged incident occurred, Jolie filed for divorce.

She wrote in her email: “I cannot begin to express how upsetting it is for me to have to come to this point. Your dream for your relationship with business and alcohol is yours and you have made it painfully clear. I wish them all the best with the business and sincerely hope that the children will feel differently about Miraval when they are older and visit them there. But Miraval to me died in September 2016, and everything I’ve seen in the years since has sadly confirmed that.”
